    We (Karmic Balance LLC) are theorectically responsible for maintaining this site. However, the individual posters are to be praised/blamed for the content that you see.
  • What is this site?

    A place to find post, share and discuss bargains/deals/coupons.
  • When did it start?

    Technically the gates were open to the public on Novemeber 12th, 2006.
  • Where is it?

    It's at http://www.bargainer.com, but if you are reading this, most likely you knew that already.
  • Why should I use this site?

    Economically speaking, if it provides utility(information, savings, amusement) to you in excess of its cost (your valuable time), then as a rational person you should use it.
  • Why should I post?

    This site is designed for our users.
    • The community, by using the site, will help find the best bargains.
    • The more you use the site, the more important your opinion becomes.
  • How does it... um... how does it work? - King Arthur

  • How do I get those icons next to my name?

    From time to time we will add icons. They are triggered when certain conditions are met, these rules may change. In general when you use the site your card will aquire more ornamentation, and may even change colors.
  • It's calling me a lurker ...

    That just means you like to read, make a post and the title will go away.

Post Types

  • Types? as in more than 1

    Yes, there are 3 basic kinds of posts: bargains, coupons and topics.
  • What's the difference?

    Bargains and coupons have additional fields to help you find what you want and filter out what you don't. Topics don't have the extra bells and whistles and are suitable for general conversation.
  • How do I move a bargain or coupon?

    You can't, if you feel something was misplaced, please notify a moderator to move it into the correct section.
  • How do can I make better bargains?

    • Use an accurate title
    • Fill out as many fields as accurately as possible
    • Search the site to make sure you're not duplicating another deal
    • Double check your spelling and grammar
  • How can edit my kudo/flame/comment?

    On the comments/kudo/flame page, next to the number is a little swiss army knife icon . Click on that and a tool box will show up with options available to you.

Bonus features

  • What is Bargainosity?

    Bargainosity is a number from 0-10 that is the our best guess on how interesting/good a particular bargain or coupon is. It takes into account when it was posted, the user who posted it, the number of times its been viewed, the number of replies its gotten (including the types of replies like kudos and flames), and of course the phase of the moon.
  • What is a Kudo?

    Something you post that indicates that you think a particular bargain/coupon is good/awe-inspiring/worthy of praise. It can be a particularly good price or something else that makes it stand out.
  • What is a flame?

    It's your opinion that a particular deal is not good and should probably hidden in favor of the other wonderful bargains on this site.
  • When is it correct/incorrect to flame?

    Good
    • Bargain isn't worth the price
    • Fine print (Excessive shipping, etc) make the stated price inaccurate.
    Not so good Uses
    • Deal is spam (use the report tool)
    • Deal is expired (use the report tool)
    • You don't like the poster (think happy thoughts)
  • What's the point of a kudo/flame?

    It's a way of sorting out whats worthy of more traffic and whats not worthy.

Bargain and Coupon Icons

  • What is Fresh?

    Fresh refers to a bargain or coupon that has just recently been posted.
  • What is Expiring?

    Expiring refers to a bargain or coupon that is almost dead. Usually the prices are valid for a short time span and that time span is almost up.
  • What is Refurbished?

    Refurbished refers to products for sale that were previously purchased by others and then subsequently returned. In essence you are getting second hand merchandise at a discounted price.
  • What is Price Match?

    Price Match refers to purchasing a product from a store then heading to a competing retailer store that offers pricematching and taking advantage of their policy to get a cheaper price (usually 10% cheaper). Price Matching can be done with either ads or receipts, and is usually a YMMV (your mileage may vary), meaning it's only effective on a case by case basis.
  • What is Rebate?

    Sometimes, products offer a rebate that lowers the price of the product. The only catch is that you have to fill out the rebate and wait for the rebate to return.
  • What is Bricks and Mortar?

    Bricks and Mortar (B&M) means that in order to make use of the Bargain or Coupon, you must phsyically go to the store (made of bricks and mortar, hence the name) and make the purchase there. B&M means that it's not applicable online.
